This is my homework from my Textile Illustration class. We just started the second partial and now I’m going to be learning to draw different textiles using watercolors. The first texture I learned is sequins. It was really fun to make!
Fun Fact: They are wearing Louboutins if you can notice the red soles.
Alexander Wang is an extremely talented young fashion designer that at the age of only 27 he has already won the CFDA Fashion Fund Award, launched two labels, been featured in important magazines such as Vogue, and sells his line in prestigious department stores around the world.
He is definitely someone to keep an eye on!
This is the last post of the American Young Designers series, it was fun researching about successful young designers. It has been such an inspirational research for me, since that is what, if it’s God’s will, I’m aiming to be someday.
Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai are the designers of this beautiful brand I love. They both graduated from Parsons in 2003 and have been working together ever since. They find their inspiration from vintage collections, their personal style and natural objects.
It is kind of evident my love for their clothes since I couldn’t shrink down the number of pictures because I love them all! I guess the reason why I like Vena Cava is because it’s totally my style, simple designs enhanced by subtle details and elegant fabrics.
This is a Canadian, self-taught designer. According to his biography (that you can find his webpage), his point of view is that garments are a sum of parts, all working in relation to one another and with the body.
What I find really interesting in his design is the movement, how the fabrics flow. I’m also into his kind of darkish sleek look.
I must say that this designer is a real artist! Renata is a Canadian designer and artist. In her webpage you can find not only her designs, but her artwork as well, which are the drawings that inspire her GORGEOUS, one-of-a-kind garments.
All of her garments are hand-made and they are a reflection of the artwork that she first puts onto a canvas.
This next designer is now one of my favorites (you can tell by the number of looks I liked). Jenni Kayne decided that she was going to be a fashion designer when she was 8 years old. In 2003, she was just nineteen when she launched her line. Her first appearance in Fashion Week was in 2005 and became part of the CFDA three years later.
“My customer loves fashion, but she wants clothes that she’ll go back to again and again. And that’s what I want to give her.” – Kayne
These next looks are some I’ve selected from her past seasons.
I like the simple feel to her clothes and how they look so sophisticated, I could wear any of her looks. I can definitely say Jenni Kayne is one of my favorite designers, and one that I look up to. You can find more about her and her designs clicking the link bellow.
I really liked this designer’s creations, but I liked them even more after I read a little about Jesse Fern Kamm. She was born in Illinois, then moved to California where she pursued a modeling career, which enabled her to travel around the world and fall in love with clothing, photography and others.
What I find really interesting about her is that she is committed to sustainability. You can read more about her in her webpage. This next pictures are some of my favorite looks from her SS 2012 collection “SAIL”.
I really like the simplicity and cleanness of her garments, the color palette and the effortless way they are put together. You can even get the same feel from the background in these pictures, how everything is just about a relaxed chicness. LOVE.
